In the country of the Maharajas - Rajasthan
Rajasthan is the second largest Federal State of India, situated south of Delhi at the border to Pakistan. Journeys in Rajasthan can be accomplished most pleasantly by railway. Nearly all cities are connected to each other.
Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and carries also the nickname Pink city. The Maharaja palace was built 1727 and is used today like many palaces of the Maharajas as a hotel. The old part of town was built in 18th. century from pink coloured sandstone. The Pink city is surrounded completely by a city wall.
Pushkar is a small hinduistique pilgrims village at a small lake. The lake is after hinduistique tradition a creation of Brahma.
Udaipur with its city palace lain on an island and became an eternal monument by the film "the tiger of Eschnapur".
Jaiselmar is a most delightful desert city. Around the city you can find fascinating sand dunes. From here to the border to Pakistan there is nothing as desert country sin human beings.
Over Jodhpur - a city with 700.000 inhabitants - an enormous fort rises away. From Rajas than it is worth to visit itself also the two cities Agra and Benares (Varanasi).
In Agra stands the most well-known attraction of India: the Taj Mahal. The Taj is a monument of love and is being regarded for many as the high point of Mogul architecture.
Benares (Varanasi) is one of the oldest cities of the world (3000 years) and centre of the Hinduism. At the shore of the holy Ganges river are situated 64 "ghats", burning places for death people. Numerous Gurus, prayers and Saddus are coming after Benares. Thousands of pilgrims come here in order to die. A bath in the holy Ganges washes away all sins after hinduistique faith.
