Kenya:
Safari National parks and beaches at the Indian Ocean
Jambo, Jambo in Kenya!.
Kenya is a country of most diverse natural landscapes: animal-rich deserts, lakes, high mountains, volcanoes and white sand beaches at the Indian ocean. From Nairobi we reach in the periphery of 120 kilometres most diverse national parks in a round trip in the Matatu, the public means of transport.
The Naivasha lake is starting point to the Hells gate national park. The volcanic landscape can be explored most simply by bicycle.
The Nakuru lake is the homeland of thousands of flamingos.
The Mount Kenya near Nyeri is the second highest mountain of Africa with 5199 meters.
The Aberdare national park is the homeland of elephants, buffalos, rhinoceroses and leopards.
In Thika and nearby several waterfalls can be visited, for example the 14 Falls.
On the way after Mombassa, at the Indian ocean we pass the Tsavo national park, that became famous by its lions. With the building of the railway bridge 1898/99 over the Tsavo river more than 100 workers have died by lions. In the film the spirit and the darkness with Michael Douglas is impressively described this history.
In Mombassa and the coast the meeting of three cultures becomes visible: Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. The Tiwi beach 30 km south of Mombassa with Ukunda is a beach paradise for individual tourists. From here the beaches of the Diana Beach can be explored. Also a trip in the Kisite navy national park close to the border of Tanzania in a traditional Dhau can be organized. The return journey after Nairobi can take place by railway over night.
