Turkey Turkey:
Antatolia and the Mediterranean coast

Turkey has many faces, from the Arab influence in the east up to the European modern in the west. The country also called "cradle of the civilization" can look back on a several thousand-year old history as meeting place of the cultures and religions. Greeks, Romans, Persian and Osmans beside other culture groups left their traces in the country.

Our more than 2500 kilometres long round trip begins in Ankara, the capital of the country. Here the architectural modern trend of a country that changes his face surprises. The travel goes to the bizarre landscape of Kappadokien, Goereme, formed through erosion and volcanic eruptions of the Erciyes Dagi and Hasan Dagi. There are around 500 cave churches in the region. In addition around 50 underground cities such as Kaymakli and Derinkuyu gave protection to the people.

In Sanliurfa, the earlier Edessa, it can be felled the Arab influence of close Syria, Iraq and Iran. The city is the place of birth Abraham and thus for Christians, Jews and Muslim an important pilgrim site.
The Nemrut Dagi with its God statues (Apollo, Tyche, Zeus, Antiochius and Herakles) around an artificial grave hill is the next station.

On the way to the coast we cross the Euphrates, which formed the so-called two-stream country (Mesopotamian) with the Tigris. Along the entire Mediterranean coast there are many interesting places such as Kizkalesi, Anamur, Alanya, Kale, Kas, Kalkan and Fethiye. What Abraham is for Urfa the Santa Claus is it for Kale, where he was as a bishop in order. In Fethiye lies probably the most beautiful beach of Turkey, the Ölü Deniz. Like nearly at the entire coast can be visited here ruins and old rock graves.

Pammukkale, translated "cotton castle" are lime washed terraces by hot thermal springs. The unique landscape at the slope of a hill with his natural swimming pools was already used by the Romans for bathing.

Seljuk is the place to visit Ephesus, one of the most important antique cities. Also here you find the connection with the Christian origins. John wrote here its gospel and is graved here. Petrus preached here and also Lukas and Maria have their burial places in the environment. The place serves also for the visit of Kusadasi, a port town. In Izmir our journey ends with the return flight. What remains is something nostalgia over a country whose above all friendly humans stay in memory.
