Oil
The crude oil price at the beginning of the year is on a new record high of over 30 dollar per barrel. Thus oil is at present time more expensive than immediately after the attacks from 11 September. The reason for this price is the situation in the Iraq and Venezuela. In Venezuela 90 % of the oil economy lies down since the 02.12.02. Venezuela is the 5 largest oil exporter. The population wants to force the president Hugo Chavez by a general strike to the resignation and to new elections. A brief Iraq war might not cause problems to the world economy to expert opinion. Differently it would however be with a long-term war.

Does a fair war exists?
For the right of a war with UN mandate it requires after the UN resolution of a proof that the Iraq manufactures and possesses atomic, chemical and biological weapons. These proofs still are missing by the UN weapon testers so far, even if the USA explain proofs for it again and again to have them. Meanwhile the Iraq counts on a war, because of his opinion the USA would like to attain of his oil fields. The Iraq possesses the secondly largest ground reserves of oil in the world after Saudi Arabia.
A war against the terror cannot be justified with wars between states and also it can not be won. Terror is not a subject of a state. An Iraq war will bring world-wide new trailers to the leaders of the terror. The suspicion puts near, that the death of many humans is taken in purchase to get control of a region rich in raw materials. That cannot be a fair war, if there are at all exist one......
For the war against the terror it would be more reasonable to use the costs of the war, who are expected between 60 and 100 billion dollar alone for the USA, for the fight against the social inequality who is a cause of the terrorism, instead of striking always new wounds. It would make although more sense to use its powerful influence for a peace solution in Palestine. With that one would take a further motive from the international terrorism.

Europe - Afghanistan - Pakistan
Natural gas
In Afghanistan an agreement was decided for the building of a natural gas pipeline, which was to supply natural gas from Turkmenistan in the future to Pakistan. The 1500 km long distance costs approx. 2 billion euro. If the entire political situation of the Near East and particularly also in Afghanistan after wars for many decades is making a start up of a pipeline possible remains questionable.

Demonstrations against the Iraq war
On 17 January a blockade of the US-Airbase in Frankfurt
On 08 February the NATO safety conference takes place in Munich. At the same time a demonstration takes place against the Iraq war in the city.
On 15 February a European action day takes place against the Iraq war in all capitals of Europe as well as in all further larger cities.

Rise of the disasters by climatic change
Natural catastrophes led in the year 2002 world-wide to damages of 55 billion dollar. In the year 2001 was still damaged of 35 billion dollar. Approximately 11.000 humans left last year by the natural catastrophes their life.
