World Social Forum
In the World Social Forum of this year have been participated 100,000 visitors. The world Social Forum understands itself as an alternatively meeting to the World Economy Summit in Davos, Switzerland. Under the slogan "another world is possible" it took place for the first time in Asia after 3 times in Brazil and shows thereby its global requirement on the implementation of social justice.
In the criticism of the participants stands the World Trade Organization, the USA for their occupation of the Iraq for economic reasons as well as the representatives of powerful companies and their capital transfer and tax evasion.

Free trade zone
At the state meeting of 34 presidents of America could not be achieved a break-through for a free trade zone in the continent. In particular came from the countries Venezuela and Brazil a resistance to this goal. Now the negotiations over a free trade zone should be finaled until 2005. A opposite against the USA and their interests in a free trade zone in the entire continent show up in South America. United however have been the leader of 34 states in their intention that the fight against poverty and hunger would be a common goal.
The state meeting of the countries Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Butan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives have been more successfully. It was declared a common free trade zone, the South Asia Free Trade Agreement, starting from the year 2006. In this connection the approximation of the two countries India and Pakistan possessing atomic weapons is important due to the Kashmir conflict.

In Badeb Baden was distinguished the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan with the German Medium Price. Annan hardly stands like another politician for the basic idea of the United Nations for a more peaceful world.
