 The enlargement of the European Union
Starting from 01 May 2004 the Europe of 15 states becomes the Europe of the 25. The new European Union states are Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakei, Slovenia, Czech Republik, Hungary and Cyprus. Thus 15 years after the case of the citizens wall of Berlin the east of Europe is integrated to the west. The extension offers Europe chances but also risks. On the economic side was founded the largest domestic market of the world.
With regard to foreign policy a common defense and foreign policy is to be created for this marketing area. To reach this will not be in the interest of the USA, because she must respect a common Europe in the creation of their world order. Like the example of the United Nations in the case of the Iraq had showed would it be not possible to non respect a common Europe like the opinion of most countries into the UN Security Council.

The Iraq war is over, the peace not reached
After the end of the Iraq war, whose indicated reason was the possession of mas destructive weapons, is a peace not in view. Also were not found mas destructive weapons. The exclusion of the UN weapon testers, who up to the outbreak of the war had succesfully made their services, and the installation of testers of the USA make the indicated war reason improbable. In addition, the Iraqi people reacts to the new "freedom" with demonstrations against the occupation of their country.
Meanwhile the USA accuse the neighboring countries of Syria and Iran for the possession of mas destructive weapons probably to prepare in order the populist soil for further military actions. These actions might take place probably in the year 2004 if the current president would be re-elect. The world-wide peace movement needs a long breath......
The United Nations, which were politicly damaged by the USA in this conflict in their meaning will be rather more accepted for structure aids of a nation by the Iraqi people than the USA.

Nepal
50 years anniversary of climbing Mount Everest
On 29 May 1953 was climbed for the first time the highest mountain of the world: the Mount Everest. At this day the Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and the New Zealander Edmund Hillary reached the summit of the mountain.
Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world suffered in the last 2 years very much from political unrests. At the 29.01.03 was declared by the government and the maoistique rebels a cease fire, which was largely kept. The situation in the country calmed down and normalized. Shortly Nepal can become interesting again as a tourist destination.

Local elections
Election defeat for Labour Party. The Labour Party had to accept large losses with the local elections in England. The Party does not govern now more in Birmingham, secondly largest city of the country with a high portion of muslim voters.
On 25 May local elections take place also in Spain. The majority of the Partido Popular (PP) is in large danger after its clearly struck victory over the Partido Socialista Obrero Espanol (PSOE) in the elections of the year 2000. It is expected that the Spaniards, who have been by 90 % against the Iraq war of her Prime Minister Aznar will now give the response by a clear voting. Not only the oil in the Iraq employs thereby the voters, but also the oil at its coasts by the tanker disaster of the "Prestige" in November 2002.
Interestingly the straight former European colonial powers took part in the military intervention in the Iraq. The voters decide now on this neo colonialism.

SC Freiburg turns back into the first league
After only one year in the second federal league the Sport Club Freiburg turns back into the highest German soccer class. The budget for the premier league season amounts to only 24 million euro and is thereby the lowest budget of all associations. Now plays the fox, the mascot of Freiburg, against the large clubs as for example the lions of Munich and the wolves of Wolfsburg. With intelligent short combination play one wants now get the points of the stronger ones.
Volker Finke already ascended with Freiburg, as the only coach in Germany with the same association, for the third time into the premier league.
