Glacier disappears
The Kilimandjaro, landmark of a whole continent, will have no more glaciers in the year 2020 after computations of geologists. Due to the climatic change Africa highest mountain (5,896 meters) lost already 80 % of its snow and ice fields since the beginning of the recordings in the year 1912.
The investigation of the ice resulted in an age of 11.700 years. In addition it resulted that the Chad lake reached 20 times more of its current extents 10,000 years ago.

Record attendance
The largest recreational park of Germany in Rust could increased its result from the previous year by 150.000 visitors in this summer season to over 3.25 million visitors. A reason for the increase of the numbers of visitors is also the new 73 meters high roller coaster.

In many developing countries the existence of many families depends on the world prices on raw materials. The coffee price is on a historical low. The cause is an offer in excess on the world market. The Germany coffee suppliers are among others Brazil (25,3%), Viet Nam (13,9%), Colombia (11,5%) and Indonesia (6,6%).

The supply situation of oil on the world market is increasingly strained. Due to production short-cut in Mexico and reduced supply from the Iraq the present cost per barrel amounts to 26 US dollar. The OPEC promotes only that much oil to keep upright the high price. If the countries of the Near East do not increase their production, the price at the beginning of 2003 can rise up to 35 dollar.
On the other hand considers the Centre for Global Energy Studies in London a price of 20 dollar possible if a successful Iraq war could promote there possibility of 3 million barrel daily.

Noise protection: Planning continues
Planning for the transfer of the stream bed of the Unditz was given in order by the Flood Protection Community. A transfer of the Unditz on 250 m is necessarily for a totally established continued noise protection barrier along the highway A5.
